Measuring Equipment and Testing Equipment
Ceramic components are increasingly used in measuring and testing equipment.
Overview of Measuring and Testing Equipment
Pump Impeller
The pump impeller is used to convey a wide variety of liquid media within a testing system. The chemical resistance and high temperature stability of the ceramic allow the testing of different materials under diverse conditions.
The previous model (aluminum die-cast component) had to be post-processed on the back and at the fitting due to manufacturing constraints. The ceramic injection molded component can be used immediately after the sintering process. This provides cost advantages while offering greater application flexibility.

Measuring Plate Made of Silicon Nitride
The high fracture toughness gives silicon nitride the highest strength among technical ceramics. Combined with its high strength, low elastic modulus, and low thermal expansion, Si₃N₄ ceramics are suitable for a wide range of applications.
The silicon nitride measuring plate serves as the support for a fully automated measurement system. Several million metallic components are automatically moved across the precision plate and measured each year. The exact height tolerance of 2 µm is a fundamental requirement for consistently accurate measurement results.

Test Masks Al2O3
Test masks are used continuously in process monitoring and serve to ensure the quality of manufactured components.
As a rule, the test device should be harder than the component being tested. Due to their high hardness and resulting wear resistance, ceramic test masks or measuring devices are ideally suited for the continuous and reproducible monitoring of process stability in plastic injection molded components or mechanically manufactured metal components. Another advantage: no disruptive abrasion (e.g., metallic scratches) occurs on the tested parts. Even when geometries allow for injection molding, the test masks are usually individually manufactured from semi-finished ceramic material due to typically small batch sizes.
